    Introducing The Tab Over Feature

Swenson Shear is here to help streamline your process for making a tab. Out in the field, roofing experts are utilizing the SnapTable to finish off the tab over for residential and commercial metal roofing projects. The SnapTable, in conjunction with the tab over, helps create a clean, closed aesthetic look at the end of the roof slope. If you don’t own one of our specialty metal cutting machines, now is the time to invest.

Tab Over Step 1: Notching Station

To start, set your angle and offset your notchers by one additional inch – this allows room to snip back when creating the tab. For example, for a 16” mitered offset angle, set your notchers at a 17” offset. Notch the panel, then remove the metal coupon from each notching station.

Tab Over Step 2: Slitting Station

Rotate the slitter to set your angle between notches. Slit the panel and grab a pair of tin snips to notch the female rib back to your 16” mitered offset. Create the tab, clean up the excess material and move panel to station three.

Tab Over Step 3: Hemming Station

Secure both sides of the standing seam by making sure the panel hits flush against the fencing inside the hemmer. Clamp down and hem over to complete your hem.

Just three painless steps and the tab over feature is done!
